Avery Sunshine
Avery Sunshine is a mercurial artist and songwriter who mixes folk gospel, soul and R&B in a signature mix. Sunshine has performed everywhere from Broadway and the Democratic National Convention to the European music scene and the club scenes. Sunshine refers to Denise White. Though she's from Atlanta but her origins are in Chester Pennsylvania. There she initially began her journey as an artist by playing the piano and singing at church. She went to Spellman College in Atlanta where she began her education on the city's R&B scene. Her role was as the principal keyboardist for Tyler Perry's musical Meet the Browns in 2005. In 2007 Grammy as well as Tony Awards-winning singer Jennifer Holliday sought her out to serve as the director of choral for the stage production of Dreamgirls in the National Black Arts Festival in Atlanta. Sunshine was noticed by people across the nation through daily performances of four at 2008's Democratic National Convention. Sunshine continued to receive recognition when she was selected to perform for President Barack Obama at his inauguration.
